How to find care
Where to actually start — school, doctor, low-cost options, and 988.
Your school counselor
Free, already at your school, and they know how to connect you with more help. You can usually just drop by or send a message.
Your doctor
Doctors check on mental health too. You can say: "I've been feeling really low / anxious and I want to talk about it." They can refer you to a therapist.
Low-cost and free options
- • Community mental health centers often charge based on what your family can pay.
- • Many colleges with psychology programs run low-cost clinics.
- • Some therapists offer sliding-scale fees — it's okay to ask.
- • Youth centers and LGBTQ+ centers often have free support groups.
Right now, any time
You don't need to be in crisis to call or text 988. You can reach out just because things feel like too much.
