What if my parents won't listen?
When the people who should get it don't — what you can do next.
Sometimes parents brush it off, get angry, or say "you're just being dramatic." That hurts, and it's not the end of the road.
Try again, differently
- • Write it down or send a text so they can take it in without reacting on the spot.
- • Be specific: "I haven't slept properly in two weeks" lands better than "I'm stressed."
- • Ask for one concrete thing: "Can you help me book a doctor's appointment?"
Bring in another adult
A school counselor, teacher, relative or coach can help you talk to your parents, or get you support directly. You're allowed to ask them.
If home isn't safe
If someone at home is hurting you or you don't feel safe there, that's not okay and help is available.
