Anxiety & thought patterns
Anxiety
When your brain keeps sounding the alarm — even when you cannot see a clear danger.
What it is
Anxiety is your body’s alarm system trying to protect you. Sometimes that alarm stays switched on after danger has passed, or goes off without an immediate threat. That does not make you weak or dramatic.
What it can feel like
It can show up in your thoughts, body, habits, energy, sleep, or relationships. You might notice several signs, only one, or something that is hard to name. Your experience does not have to match anyone else’s to count.
“It felt like my brain was opening twenty tabs at once.”
What can help
Start with one small thing your nervous system can handle: slow your out-breath, name what is happening, write down the next manageable step, or contact someone steady. Rest, food, movement, boundaries, and time with safe people can help, but needing more support is never a failure.
When to get help
Talk to someone you trust if this keeps returning, lasts, or gets in the way of sleep, food, school, work, relationships, or things you value. A counselor, therapist, or doctor can help you understand the pattern. If you may hurt yourself or are in immediate danger, use Need help now? right away.
