When things feel heavy
Loneliness
Feeling disconnected can happen even when other people are around.
What it is
Loneliness is the gap between the connection you have and the connection you need. It is not proof that you are unlikeable. It is a signal, like hunger, that something important is missing.
What it can feel like
It can show up in your thoughts, body, habits, energy, sleep, or relationships. You might notice several signs, only one, or something that is hard to name. Your experience does not have to match anyone else’s to count.
“I had people to text. I just did not know who I could tell the truth to.”
What can help
Start with one small thing your nervous system can handle: slow your out-breath, name what is happening, write down the next manageable step, or contact someone steady. Rest, food, movement, boundaries, and time with safe people can help, but needing more support is never a failure.
When to get help
Talk to someone you trust if this keeps returning, lasts, or gets in the way of sleep, food, school, work, relationships, or things you value. A counselor, therapist, or doctor can help you understand the pattern. If you may hurt yourself or are in immediate danger, use Need help now? right away.
